Taken one day after my 21st birthday in my hometown. Costumes made by me, consisting of a "Gainsborough hat", polonaise dress and an officer's uniform of the 3rd Foot Guards.

I actually used a turn of the century pattern... by Butterick, I think. I should have made the top bigger, though. I used two layers of very thick felted wool and wire in the bias tape in the brim. The crown is sewn instead of being steam-moulded like professionals do, so it's not 1000% as pretty. I can send you the pattern if you could give me your adress again in a note.

Sounds good, I made my cavalier hat and a tricorn of a similar material, I don't think it's wool but its stiff enough to make a good hat even with large brims.
I would be very glad about the pattern :) perhaps I have to ask you later about some details how to decorate such a hat :D

Thank you! I feel like it, sometimes. Many views of that period seem natural to me. Adam is actuall more a late medieval person, though. But he suits all periods, LOL.
